If anyone would like to send me a small graphic to put up in memorial to Craig then send it to me at sazshot@gmail.com
200 by 200 pixels any format. I will stick them here in this column. If I get more than can fit in this column I will make a link to a new page where they will be put in that space.

Craig Yerkes
Lead Guitarist for The Grams dies at 40 yrs old of an automobile accident

Craig Yerkes passed away at approximately at 11:30 am, Saturday June 28th, at the intersection of Camino Del Rey and Via de la Reina. I have been told he was on his way to pick up his children to bring them to the O.B. Street Fair where he would be playing with his band, The Grams.

Craig was a good friend of mine and I can't believe he's gone. I have trouble realizing I will never see his smiling face again. There were times we talked and many times where out of the blue, Craig appeared in front of me handing me a beer for no reason other than friendship. Craig never had anything bad to say about anyone and although I really don't know anything of his home life. I believe he was a truly happy man. He always had a smile on his face always ready to laugh and talk with friends. He loved his kids and worried that his wife thought him too fat. Which of course he wasn't. He is survived by his wife, Elise who also plays in The Grams and his two children whom I will refrain from naming here so they won't be bothered by people. Craig also leaves a loving sister, Marcia Claire who is at present still in shock and not answering email unless its from very close friends or family.

Craig was one of the best musicians in town and definitely the best guitarist by far. He and his sister Marcia grew up with laughter and music and although brother and sister... they were the best of friends their entire lives. The musical community mourns as many of us cried in the street at the O.B. Fair and then went to have a few drinks in his honor. Later I know many of us cried again at home as well. He will be sorely missed.

It is too soon for info on his funeral arrangement. If it is his families wish I will relay that info here for everyone to find.

The writers and I here at MyWeek in Music Magazine wish to give our regards and condolences to Elise, Craig's Children, Marcia and the rest of his surving family and to the family he made with The Grams. Chuck, Joanna, Tony and Bill.

It was an honor to be his friend
