Well the new format was a great success a lot of people sent messages, comments and email about the change! I am glad everyone liked it I will be especially glad once I get to more gigs and I am able to take pictures and put them in!

Now getting around was a problem for me durring the holidays. I just didn't get out there to see anything. I made it to one gig at Kirin Sushi to see Brooklyn and although I like to talk about Brooklyn and her talent. I think I will spare you until she gets her CD out or I see her in an exceptional show which will probably happen soon anyway!

So what I am going to do is put in a promo of one of my favorite bands gigs that is coming up this Saturday! You have heard me praise Sweettooth before but this gig has several favorites. SweetTooth, Scott Wilson Electric and Citizen Band. This way you can see 'em all.

SweetTooth is an outstanding band that rocks the house with songs like: Bleeding Nerve, Allright, Belly and Dark Night to name a few. But they have quite a few other songs and they have a CD due out later in 2007. They really get the crowds going and people stop talking and take note when they play. They will even get the crowd all banging their heads together on the same beat. So they will rock you too! but don't take my word for it, come out and see for yourself. You'll be glad you did!
Scott Wilson Electric is a full sized band with many members and even backup singers. But without Scott and his voice then there would be no band. Great songs and vocals, you will always be pleased to listen to songs like Kalidwscope's End, Coffeehouse 101, Van Gogh's Ear and Psycodelic Lullaby and these are just a few. Scott belts out every song like its from his soul. He always rocks the house when he plays. Come on down and see for yoourself!
Citizen Band is a band of very talented musicians and headed by Singer/songwriter Jeff Berkley, the rest of the band is Marcia Claire on bass, Mike Spurgat/guitar, Dylan James/guitar and Danny Cress/drums. Together they are Citizen Band and they will rock the house every time and Jeff will do stand up in between songs. Well not stand up but he's very funny! And damn talented! I actually recognize each song they sing but I don't know any of the titles. Thats something I will have to work on this year but if you are good at remembering titles you will have no trouble remembering many of their really well written and fun songs! So if you are looking to have some fun this coming Saturday then you need to get yourself down to Hot Monkey Love Cafe at  6875 El Cajon Boulevard, San Diego, California 92115. The cost at the door will be $7 dollars but it will be the best money you have spent all year! [grin] So Far!
So I will have much more next week even if I have to walk to all the gigs! Plus they're are a lot more to choose from so make sure you check out the section below to find out what is going on next week!

Ciao

Well here is what to expect from me here in 2007 or My 2007 resolutions

My goals for this blog have always been to promote the San Diego Music Scene. I don't get paid for doing this I just think it should be done. One goal of mine was to make a place where everyone could go and at a glance see where they can go on any given night! Another goal is to bring a little info to people to let them know what kind of bands or singers are available to listen to and what kind of quality of music we are talking about? Some times I do a sort of review, but my reviews are sometimes biased because many of these people are friends. But I base the info on the music, on what I like in music and if you are like me you will like them too! I believe in this music scene but I want you to go out and make up your own mind. I am just trying to educate you, in case you haven't gotten out much and seen (heard) what great music we have in San Diego! I don't say this lightly it would easy for you to see too, if you got out as much as I, and heard the bands I hear on a daily basis. The Music Scene in San Diego is nothing short of phenomenal as far as I am concerned and I am just talking about a small portion of it. I have said, I will try to get out and listen to other types of music other than the Alternative/Acoustic/Americana/Alternative Country/Folk and Pop I have been listening to! But I will say, that although I really like Rap and Hip Hop, Jazz, Classical and a few other genres' I just don't get out to them as much! I will try to rectify that as well this year! Because there is a lot of talent out there in those areas as well! I also will try to get more photos into the blog so you can start recognizing some of the talent I talk about or the venues. I have also started a second story to appear in the weekly posts and it is my hope to get guest writers, so you can get another point of view except mine all the time. We'll see how that goes, so far I have had no bites and you are just getting more stuff from me so far!

Now I don't get to go to these shows for free, occasionally, but not often. It is an expensive thing for me to undertake, and I just don't make much money! But I will try not to let that deter me from the task I have appointed myself to!

If you can. Talk about the blog to people you know are on MySpace and get them to come read it. Also it is important to get everybody to subscribe to the blog. It is in everybody's best interests, the performers get recognition and the readers get info on whats going on in the scene. The more the blog is subscribed to, then the more often MySpace may focus on the page or it may be put in the top 100 blogs. That means more recognition for the singer/songwriters I talk about? When you read the amount of people that come to my blog each week. I see that I get a lot of traffic. But I don't have that many people subscribed. People just come to read it without subscribing and it is a lot of people. If I can get it noticed by MySpace then I can get more people reading it and that means more people may eventually show up at your gigs! But no guarantee's!

Also I will endeavor to write a little better than I have. I wrote a lot in college and was a career student. So you can imagine how much I had to write going to school for more than ten years. But those were mostly dull reports and science papers. I never claimed to be good at writing anything. If I were I would definitely write for a living because I do like to write. I just don't have as good an imagination as a writer as I do as an artist. As I have said slightly above, I do positive reviews here! I do not do critiques, and try not to say anything negative. That's not my purpose, I am not a musician. All I do is twiddle around with various instruments, but I don't know music theory or how to play anything well, so I think I would be a lousy critic. I do know what I like, and if I hear stuff I don't like, then maybe I won't write much about it. But don't take that to mean anything. If you don't see a lot written about someone. I just may not have had anything to say at the time. It doesn't mean I didn't like them. But you will never hear me say anything bad about anybody. There is enough of that in the world already, then to have me add to it!

If anyone has anymore suggestions or critiques or comments please post them or send them to me privately. I am pretty thick skinned and I can take any criticism sent. Within reason that is? But if I don't take your advise, please don't take it personally. It just may not be my personal goal for what I am trying to do here! Hopefully everyone that does come here to read what I write, does so because they know I do it for the love of music and the love I have for my friends. I only wish success for everyone I know! Ok enough of me being sappy! I'm Out!

Ciao!

(BTW if anyone wants to know why I say those two dumb sentences? I just thought I should have something of a signature of sorts and I like those two! "I'm Out! and Ciao" I don't say them in real life I would probably feel really silly saying them out loud!) If they annoy people, well sorry, you'll just have to live with it! Till next time!
