Back Issue

Well some of you may be wondering what happened to Scott and the website. We are still here but I needed to make some changes. This little update is to tell you of some of those changes and what to expect in the near future.

First of all we are moving to a monthly format. I don't know if this will be a popular change but it is a necessity. I had a slight burn out. I literally was rolling out of bed and working on the website doing code, writing articles planning site development processing pictures, blah blah blah. Then going to a show taking pic's and going home working on the site till 2 or 3 in the morning and sleeping for a few hours and getting back up and doing it again. 7 days a week. I have had no time to live for anything but the website. Barely taking breaks for eating, sleeping and going to shows. Sounds like the life of Reilly. But it catches up with you. I ended up passing out and going to the hospital one night for exhaustion. So I have been taking it easy and have only been to two shows since the OB Street Fair. The doctor told me to reduce the stress in my life. So I have not worked on anything. No pictures, no shows, no MySpace, no computer...nothing. I GOT BORED! So I am back!

So now in order to keep myself busy I will go back to doing what I was doing before but at a slower pace. Not letting it get control of me. I will still go to a lot of shows, and take pictures (but I will not let it get to the point of freaking me out) that I haven't processed them for everyone to see right away. You'll get them when you get them. I still have no indication that anyone is really using this site or not. I know some of my closer friends read the site occasionally or use the Shows On the Near Horizon section , but otherwise, I get no input to what "YOU" the reader wants. So you get what I put up till you do.

Which brings me to the next change. I put up a comments page, for people to use. Feel free to put your music ad or gig info there if you want, or start a conversation like a forum. Just realize I am the moderator and I will take out offensive uploads or ads that have nothing to do with music or the San Diego music scene. Its my prerogative, I am my only sponsor. There will also be a comments section on the blog/article page. Its comments will be separate from the other comments section and those threads will only be seen there.

The third and biggest change is that MyWeek Magazine is going monthly now. It will be continually updated when I feel like it, but new articles on the blog page will happen around the first 5 days of the month and will not have a new article till the next month unless there is significant reason to warrant an update.

The Shows On The New Horizon section is also now monthly. It has already been implemented. I will be working on next months shortly. I get most of my info on gigs by checking my MySpace Friends and a few of the key bar and coffee shop web pages. I will endeavor to keep this up to date as well as I can but the original reason I did it weekly was to insure better accuracy. Doing it a month or more ahead of time means that it could be inaccurate because things change so often, shows are canceled or added quickly. After I Make the next months gig sheet I will be putting on a section on that page for submissions for gigs that have been missed, to bring it to my attention. Singer/songwriters please use this to make sure your gigs are posted properly. At that time I will be renaming the "Shows on the Near Horizon" to Gigsheet or some other short...more succinct name. If you have a better name in mind then please submit it via the Feedback link.

The main blog/article page (newissue.html) with this upload will be changing its extension to newissue.php in order to implement the comments section of this page. So change your bookmarks to http://www.myweekmagazine.com/newissue.php.
In August the front splash page will be gone and when you come to the site it will go directly to the blog/article newissue.php page. The index page will redirect to newissue.php as the default first page. If for some reason there is a problem with this plan then newissue.php may be changed to index.php. And you will again have to change your bookmark to make the change.

Some of the stages of the change to monthly status are still in the planning stages. It may be possible that there will be more than one article, more like a magazine. It depends on how many submissions from people I get. This is also an all out call to anyone interested to be published on this site. As long as it is about the San Diego Music scene or local musicians or music in general. But I will not accept article's about the latest pop star or corporate music. They have large corporations which can spend large amounts of money to advertise their stars. This site is about local singer/songwriters.

Last I want everyone to know that anything submitted by anyone now or in the future will be anonymous. I do not sell names or url's or email addresses. If you see name or anything you think will give your identity away then put anything you want in the field. The only reason they are there is to keep computers from spamming me to death. I don't care who you are! If you have a suggestion, make it and be anonymous please! but make the comment or provide the info.
This is all for you to have accurate info and provide you with the best possible answers to your interests! If you see anything you don't like in the website but don't want to use the feedback or form sections, then go to my myspace site and post the info or question there! I don't care where I get the info from!
Other than that enjoy the site, its here for you!

Ciao
